web assets

Advertising products within tight file size and dimension restrictions for third party websites was a vital tool to fill many roles when there was a shortage. Adverts needed to be fitting with the brand while attracting those with the skills it advertised.

01 brief

The Marketing Team consistently generates diverse graphic requests spanning both web and app platforms, all of which must align with our brand guidelines.

Each graphic necessitates adherence to specific dimensions and must remain below a designated file size, contingent on the destination website. Typically, these graphics serve the purpose of advertising in prominent web publications, targeting new writers.

02 accessibility
(WCAG)

The contemporary landscape of publishing has witnessed an increased awareness regarding diverse visual impairments that may impede the reader, along with other considerations such as stress, autism, Asperger's, dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADHD, and more.

Internationally acknowledged standards outlined in the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) serve as the benchmark for web accessibility on a global scale. And are also just as relevant to printed products.

To ensure that graphics are legible for a broad audience, I employ tools such as the Color Oracle, Colour Contrast Analyser (CCA) and Color Brewer.

* Keen observers may discern variations in the spelling of "colour/color." This discrepancy arises from the geographical origin of the company that developed the program.

CCA is used to check the colours reach a standard...

  • A (lowest)

  • AA (mid-range)

  • AA (highest)

Color Brewer is employed to generate a spectrum of 'safe' colors essential for maps, bar charts, and any other visual elements where distinct colors are needed to delineate elements and ensure visibility.

03 compromise

The international brand guidelines establish non-negotiable parameters for various design elements, including logos and brand colors.

While adjustments to these elements are restricted, there is room to consider layout, the placement of background text and choosing the right brand secondary & tertiary colours to use. This approach aims to enhance design accessibility without compromising the integrity of the brand's visual identity.

04 designs

Introducing a compilation of diverse web recruitment banners meticulously crafted to engage prospective exam paper writers. The development of these banners demanded proficient technical design skills, particularly due to their intended placement in confined advertising spaces on external websites.

The creation of animated banners posed a unique challenge, as it necessitated the reduction of file size to comply with the stringent limits imposed by the hosting webpage. Innovative techniques were employed to attain the desired visual impact, such as the strategic limitation of frames.

Static web banners emerged as a preferred option, particularly in time-sensitive scenarios with urgent deadlines. To enhance their appeal, I incorporated branded illustrations sourced from a curated library that I had previously established.

Given additional time, I had the opportunity to conceive and craft a captivating theme featuring custom illustrations. This endeavor was part of a year-long campaign, meticulously aligned with the specific seasonal nuances corresponding to the scheduled upload times.
